目前,基于Android操作系统的移动设备广泛应用于机顶盒、车辆、机器人等业务领域。尤其在边缘物联网场景中,基于Android操作系统的智能设备强烈需要云原生技术,而基于Linux操作系统的固定边缘设备场景已经成功实践了KubeEdge的云原生工作负载。 在这样的背景下,我们开始探索在Android设备上使用KubeEdge部署边缘工作负载。在实施过程中,我们进行了大量工作,包括修改Android内核以支持容器运行时、容器网络和容器存储。我们成功在实验室实验中在Android设备上运行KubeEdge节点,并在真实的机顶盒场景中实现了它。 我们将主要介绍背景、技术细节以及如何通过演示展示在Android设备上运行KubeEdge云原生工作负载。最后,介绍在机顶盒场景中的实施情况。

Mobile devices based on the Android OS are widely used currently, covering set-top boxes, vehicles, robots and other business fields. Especially in edge IOT scenarios, cloud-native technologies are strongly required by Android OS-based smart devices, while the cloud native workloads have already practiced succesfully in many fixed edge device scenerios based on Linux OS with KubeEdge. Under such background, we begin to explore deploying edge workloads on Android devices with KubeEdge. Throughout the implementation, a lot of work was done including Andriod kernel modification to support container runtime, container networking and container storage. We successfully run KubeEdge node on Andriod devices in lab experiment and also implement it in the real set-top box scenario. We will mainly introduce the background, technical details and how to run KubeEdge cloud native workloads on Android devices through a demo show. In the end, introduce the implementation in the set-top box scenerio.
